Preparation for Life
Preparation for life is crucial and lies at the heart of all education and learning. Our greatest focus is on ensuring our pupils leave The Beacon ready to take the positive next steps in their education and wider life. We seek to ensure all our pupils acquire the skills, knowledge, understanding, confidence and resilience to lead fulfilled lives and make positive contributions to their communities.
There are many ways we support our pupils in preparing them for life beyond The Beacon.
Emotional Literacy
Our detailed mental health and wellbeing curriculum supports pupils in developing the emotional intelligence, resilience and self awareness to function successfully and safely within themselves and in relationships with others. |
No Outsiders
Our No Outsiders programme prepares children for life in modern Britain, promoting the development of British values. At the heart of No Outsiders is inclusion and equality, promoting community cohesion to prepare our pupils for life as global citizens. |

Roles & ResponsibilitiesAll our pupils have classroom roles, including tasks such as light monitor. However there are a selection of Beacon jobs that require additional responsibilities. for these jobs pupils have to nominate themselves after considering all the qualities required for the job. Following this pupils are interviewed for the jobs and training for the roles is given to pupils who are successful in earning a job.

Finance Friday
Our Finance Friday sessions provide essential financial education, which helps prepare pupils for lifelong financial wellbeing. Working with the Just Finance Foundation we provide weekly opportunities for pupils to build the confidence, curiosity and self-awareness to handle the everyday ups and downs of money as they grow. |
PE Life Skills
All our pupils are working towards the national PE Life Skills award, which is designed to recognise and award pupils for developing essential life skills through PE. It emphasises valuable life skills such as resilience, leadership and independence, which can empower pupils in many aspects of their lives. |

Career Aspirations
Our work with The Curiosity Museum has provided engaging and hands-on opportunities for our pupils to explore possible career aspirations. The Curiosity Museum helps pupils to focus on their interests, as a starting point to working out their future plans. Pupils are inspired to get curious and start thinking about their ambitions through an explorative and creative process. We are excited to continue to work with The Curiosity Museum to extend the valuable work they do. |
